[16:43]quarter: hi i see two builds on the site for ubuntu: Preliminary Stable Builds and Preliminary Testing Builds.
[16:44]quarter: the stable says (maintenance releases) and the testing build says major/minor release. I don't get it. Which version is the stable release?
[16:45]SlavekB: Hi Quarter, in fact, there are three apt resources: stable release, PSB and PTB.
[16:46]quarter: oh, i'm looking for a stable release with no quick updates, which version should I choose?
[16:46]quarter: Like a long term support
[16:47]quarter: I guess I need the stable version you mentioned. Where can I get it?
[16:47]SlavekB: In this case, you want to use apt resources that are listed on the base wiki page:
[16:47]SlavekB: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Ubuntu_Trinity_Repository_Installation_Instructions#Configure_the_package_manager
[16:48]quarter: thank you, I see two version. TDE R14.0.x and TDE v3.5.13.x. What's the difference?
[16:50]quarter: SlavekB, ^
[16:51]SlavekB: TDE v3.5.13.x is a old version that is not appropriate to use for new installations.
[16:51]SlavekB: Some as old-old-stable :)
[16:51]quarter: alright, thank you

[17:00]quarter: hi, I've added this to my sourceslist: deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.0.x focal main
[17:00]quarter: deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-builddeps-r14.0.x
[17:01]quarter: after that: wget http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-keyring.deb
[17:01]quarter: sudo dpkg -i trinity-keyring.deb
[17:01]quarter: last thing I did was an update which says: N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-i386/Packages' as repository 'http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.0.x focal InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'i386'
[17:02]quarter: and: N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-i386/Packages' as repository 'http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-builddeps-r14.0.x focal InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'i386'
[17:05]quarter: Have I missed anything?
[17:05]SlavekB: See instructions to restrict architecture to amd64 in older release notes:
[17:05]SlavekB: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Release_Notes_For_R14.0.9#Restriction_of_supported_distros.2Farchitectures
[17:07]SlavekB: Ubuntu does not provide i386 packages needed to built TDE for i386 and therefore apt source contains only amd64. But by default, Ubuntu is trying to load both amd64 and i386.
[17:11]quarter: I have to add [arch=amd64] to the sources list, i guess
[17:11]SlavekB: (Y)
[17:16]quarter: thanks, it worked. I changed it to: deb [arch=amd64] http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.0.x focal main
