[08:29]sdf0: hello, I still can't find a way to manage Pulseaudio from Trinity
[08:29]sdf0: KMix only manages Alsa
[08:29]sdf0: pavucontrol can't be added to tray icons...
[08:47]sdf0 has quit (Quit: leaving)

[16:01]agneli: we really cannot select pulseaudio to be managed from kmix?
[16:02]agneli: i am not very sure but i think i had that crap at some point installed with tde
[16:02]agneli: and I had a selection of devices
[16:02]agneli: pulseaudio giving just one volube bar...
[16:03]agneli: or am I making things up now?
[16:54]Space_Man has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[18:10]FDR00 has joined
[18:10]FDR00: is there an alternative to KMix that has Pulseaudio support?
[18:11]FDR00: I am currently using pavucontrol but it does not integrate with TDE (No tray icon or keybindings)
[18:12]FDR00: if I change Pulseaudio output, KMix would not refresh, it would keep controlling the previously set sink
[18:15]agneli: ok
[18:16]agneli: FDR00: i just booted some old device, it has tde
[18:16]agneli: it has kmix
[18:16]agneli: and I am able to select the device I want to control
[18:16]FDR00: agneli: are you using Pulseaudio?
[18:16]agneli: I have a combot or whatever that field is called
[18:17]FDR00: agneli: you are probably using only Alsa without Pulseaudio
[18:18]agneli: installing now
[18:18]agneli: we will see in a second
[18:18]FDR00: agneli: which distro?
[18:25]agneli: this is some old debian
[18:26]agneli: and by installing this crap i screwed up the sound completely
[18:26]agneli: :)
[18:26]FDR00: agneli: pulseaudio is a layer on top Alsa to be able to output sound from multiple applications at once
[18:26]agneli: i am pretty sure I remember kmix having just one slider to regulate pulseaudio
[18:26]FDR00: KMix does not support Pulseaudio
[18:28]agneli: I do not want to comment on that statement...
[18:28]agneli: you have 2 different sound cards
[18:28]FDR00: correct
[18:28]agneli: I just booted a deivice with 2 diffent sound cards
[18:29]agneli: and I can select and manage accoridingly without pulseaudio and with kmix
[18:29]agneli: u want a screenshot?
[18:29]FDR00: I believe you
[18:29]FDR00: but can you produce sound from multiple apps at once?
[18:30]agneli: that I tested yesterday
[18:30]FDR00: what about mic
[18:30]FDR00: ?
[18:30]agneli: and actually on modern, last week updated, gentoo
[18:30]FDR00: can you use mic normally?
[18:30]agneli: you want me to play sound from 2 different sources and record a mic on top of it?
[18:31]FDR00: agneli: if its not a hassle to you... please... because if it worked i will just go ahead any try removing Pulseaudio
[18:32]agneli: ach one point to my test, after intalling pulseaudio on that machine (a bti old I admit) nothing works, neither kmix, nor alsamix or pavucontrol :)
[18:32]agneli: FDR00: what do you want me to do, please?
[18:33]FDR00: agneli: as far as you remember... does mic work normally?
[18:33]agneli: i never used internal mic, more like line in recording
[18:34]agneli: in aps like rosegarden for example
[18:35]agneli: but there I use jack
[18:38]agneli: so what exactly you want me to test
[18:38]agneli: jsut a simple recording from internal mic?
[18:38]agneli: nothing special?
[18:38]FDR00: problem is that on Gentoo pulseaudio is in the Desktop profile (eselect profile I mean)
[18:38]FDR00: if I switch profile I need to add many things manually to the USE flags
[18:38]agneli: r u sure?
[18:40]agneli: i have -pulseaudio on all my machies in /etc/portage/make.conf
[18:40]FDR00: /usr/portage/profiles/default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop
[18:40]agneli: I am not saying about profile
[18:40]agneli: I am talking about the need to add things...
[18:50]FDR00 has quit (Quit: leaving)
[18:51]agneli: ach... and I did manage to record with arecord for the mic... :)
[18:56]agneli: shit I was right, i am now in a machine that has tde AND pulseaudio and I can see KMix managing pulseaudio
[19:00]agneli: so he has something screwed up on his system...
[19:00]agneli: I can selec to manage pulseaution or soundcards that are there...
[19:00]agneli: pulseaudio
[19:00]agneli: :)
[23:32]luke-jr: [18:26:49] <FDR00> agneli: pulseaudio is a layer on top Alsa to be able to output sound from multiple applications at once <-- ALSA can do that just fine tho
[23:34]luke-jr: the only thing AFAIK that ALSA can't do in this regard, is control volume for each application separately
