[10:57]cethyel: Hello Michele
[11:21]cethyel has left
[11:24]michelec2: Hi Greg
[11:24]michelec2: PRs are ready for testing
[11:24]michelec2: you can try mounting/unmounting disks and see everything works fine
[11:24]cethyel has joined
[11:25]michelec2: if you have LUKS disks, you can try to unlock/lock them too
[11:25]michelec2: and if you have USB devices, you can see if they show up correctly when you plug them in
[11:25]cethyel: I actually gave a try an hour or so ago, but It didn't work out fine, let's see...
[11:25]michelec2: if you use tdehwdevicetray, you should get notification for added/removed devices if you have enable notifications for them
[11:26]michelec2: it didn't? as in it didn't build? or it didn't work?
[11:27]cethyel: ok, It builds fine and install fine
[11:28]cethyel: the detection for USB thumbdrive is working, as well as the notification
[11:30]cethyel: i have troubles with an SSD disk the detection is ok, notification ok too
[11:31]cethyel: when i open the partitions on this SSD, the new window opens up fine, nonetheless...
[11:32]cethyel: when I go back to Systeme Storage Media
[11:33]cethyel: if i click right on the disk, EG: Open Medium System Folder
[11:34]cethyel: I get a window error, stating that It can't mount this device, thedevice is already mounter at '/'
[11:36]cethyel: same apply if I select "Mount" or "Open Medium System Folder"
[11:36]michelec2: oh I see
[11:37]cethyel: since this partition is already mounted, Konqueror should just opens it
[11:37]michelec2: can you give the exact steps? I will try to reproduce here
[11:38]cethyel: - plug in an ssd (maybe a USB) with an ext4 partition
[11:38]michelec2: and is the problem only with SSD? how about normal USB disks?
[11:38]cethyel: as I said USB is fine
[11:39]cethyel: is It related to the partitioning fat32 vs ext4, I don't know
[11:40]michelec2: uhm... that sounds very weird. the events are the same. I have tried USB with fat partitions. I have not tried with ext4 on USB
[11:41]michelec2: and SSD disks also seems to work fine
[11:41]michelec2: if the disk is already mounted, Konqueror should give you a different menu, which has Unmount
[11:41]michelec2: looks like Konqueror still thinks the disk is unmounted
[11:41]cethyel: but once you have that partition mounted and opened, go back to "System Storage Media" to get a wild view of the mounted devices
[11:42]michelec2: I assume you reboot after building and installing right?
[11:42]cethyel: then right click on the device
[11:42]cethyel: the unmount option is not there
[11:42]michelec2: do you click on the "storage media" icon on the left to get there?
[11:42]cethyel: yes
[11:43]cethyel: it gives a full view of all the devices
[11:43]michelec2: ok, let's summarize. you insert a SSD disk. then how do you mount it? double click on kdesktop?
[11:44]cethyel: i open it up with the notification in a new window
[11:44]michelec2: oh, in the dialog that shows up when you plug in the disk right? you choose "open"?
[11:45]michelec2: "open in new window" right?
[11:45]cethyel: i chose "open in a new window"
[11:45]michelec2: (y)
[11:45]michelec2: then in the same konqueror you click the "storage media" on the lift side tree
[11:45]michelec2: right?
[11:45]cethyel: yes
[11:46]michelec2: and the device shows up still not mounted, right? what does the "file type" column say on the right side?
[11:47]cethyel: in the mounting options i get:
[11:47]cethyel: - open With
[11:47]cethyel: - Mount
[11:48]cethyel: - open Medium System Folder
[11:48]cethyel: that's it
[11:48]michelec2: I guess the disk says it is an unmounted hard disk volume, right?
[11:49]cethyel: where should i read this?
[11:49]cethyel: I don't see such info
[11:50]cethyel: I just tried with a Kindle reader from Amazon, It just crashed
[11:51]michelec2: you can see that in the status bar of konqueror
[11:51]michelec2: or in the column named "file type" if it is visible.
[11:51]michelec2: or in the file tip if you hover the mouse over the device
[11:51]cethyel: but with the Kindle, I get the Safely Remove and Unmount option
[11:51]michelec2: yup, Kindle is how it should be
[11:52]michelec2: so the problem is only with SSD USB disk that you plug in?
[11:52]michelec2: or with any SSD already in the system, even non removable?
[11:52]cethyel: yes, it does say "unmounted"
[11:53]cethyel: which is wrong because it is already mounted
[11:53]michelec2: yes, it makes sense. otherwise you would get a different menu
[11:53]michelec2: if you press F5 does it change to "mounted"?
[11:55]cethyel: wait, it seems ok, i was tricked by the partions on the SSDs, let me continue the testing
[11:56]michelec2: ok. because so far in my testing I have not seen this issue :-$
[11:57]michelec2: also if you see the problem again, could you check the status of the disk in
- kdesktop
- tdehwdevicetray (see in which submenu the disk shows up)
- in kdcop --> kded --> mediamanager --> fulllist()
[11:57]cethyel: my bad, it looks good :-[, I was looking at my main disk not the added SSD
[11:59]michelec2: no problem, good to hear that. And thanks for the testing so far
[12:00]cethyel: nonetheless, that partition should open too, but It's not related to your PR i guess
[12:01]michelec2: you can test with and without if you want. but partitions are independent of each other and the disk. you can have one mounted and one not, and their status will be different and the menu also different
[12:04]cethyel: overall, your PR works , I've tried several options (open, mount, remove) right now, and everything worked as expected
[12:05]michelec2: (y)
[12:05]cethyel: I didn't try with lusk partitions since I don't have any
[12:05]michelec2: I have also done lot of testing here, including LUKS and LVM disks
[12:06]michelec2: USB SSD is the only thing I couldn't test
[12:06]michelec2: but standard USB flash disks works and they should be pretty much the same thing
[12:08]cethyel: just tried with an SD card (fat32) seems all right too
[12:10]michelec2: yes, fat32 works fine here too.
[12:12]cethyel: oh the Kindle is working too, now
[12:13]michelec2: (y)
[12:14]cethyel: looks to be a success \m/
[12:18]michelec2: great!!
[12:18]michelec2: thanks for testing
[12:19]michelec2: and the session file should look a bit cleaner than before ;-)
[12:19]michelec2: @Slavek: see replies to your feedback on the same PR
[12:20]cethyel: you're welcome :)
[12:31]michelec2: (y)
[12:32]cethyel: @Michele, issue https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/kdbg/issues/8 is still open, is there anything more to do?
[12:44]michelec2: let me see
[12:44]michelec2: btw you can just type TDE/kdbg#8 and the bot will provide the link automatically
[12:44]tde-bot: [TGW][kdbg] #8 - kdbg not usable
https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/kdbg/issues/8
[12:46]michelec2: closed. thanks for the pointer
[12:47]michelec2: and talking about #8, this reminds me I need to look at TDE/k3b#8 before the release of R14.0.11
[12:47]tde-bot: [TGW][k3b] #8 - Fix metainfo processing, AAC decoding, some domestic code clearance
https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/k3b/pulls/8
[12:55]cethyel: I'l leaving guys, I feel tired. See you some other time, bye!
[12:55]michelec2: see you Greg
[12:55]cethyel has left
[12:55]michelec2: will test your automake drop PR sometime tomorrow
[13:50]michelec2: going to sleep early tonight, too tired from the trip
[13:50]michelec2: have a good evening everyone
[13:51]Slávek: good night to you
