[20:36]ceux: i was wondering if anyone could help me setting up a dev env again, are you guys using VMs or
[20:36]ceux: IE: i want to do clean builds, but my desktop i run on the stable version
[20:36]ceux: i have some patch set i was working on and i want to get back to but it that can effect stuff so i dont feel it would be smart to mix and match with my current system
[20:37]SlavekB: You can use schroot, for example.
[20:38]ceux: I use debian, so should i build a debian chroot and then do the builds inside of it?
[20:38]SlavekB: Schroot makes it easy to get a clean chroot suitable for building for any distribution, regardless of the one you are using.
[20:38]ceux: that is, and then run apps (won't those apps also be running inside my X11 session though? or do i kick off a fake session?) sorry.
[20:38]ceux: ok that helps Slavek. I did do a chroot for building but the testing part is less clear to me.
[20:40]SlavekB: For testing purposes, I build the package in schroot for the distribution I'm using. I can then update the packages on my machine and test them on myself.
[20:41]ceux: OK thank you that makes sense, build then install. I think i may still do a VM just for my sanity. Apprecaite it.
[20:41]SlavekB: Since I use PSB by default, I will also test the backporting of the patch.
[20:41]ceux: SlavekB: been doin a little fun with audio
[20:41]ceux: was playing with writing a pulse mixer
[20:41]ceux: well pulse/pipewire
